I highly recommend going to a beach club in Tulum, as it's the perfect way to cool off and relax for the rest of the day. Then you'll have to walk through a wooded area to reach the walls of Tulum and the stone entrance to the main archaeological site. One of my favorite beach clubs in Tulum is Ziggy's Beach Club, which is about a 20-minute drive from the ruins.
If you want a bit of beach mixed with the ruins, Tulum is the best option and the views are simply stunning. However, if you are looking for a deeper experience in the fascinating world of the Mayans, you may want to consider combining a visit to the ruins of Tulum with a trip to other archaeological sites or visiting other completely different ruins. If you're looking for a place that isn't as busy as the ruins of Tulum or Chichen Itza, make sure to include Ek Balam in your itinerary.
There are many cenotes near Tulum, but the Gran Cenote is probably the best one to visit, as it is closest to the ruins. If you decided to visit the ruins of Tulum on your own, chances are that your next destination will be Tulum to enjoy the beach and eat something to eat. In general, I recommend visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum during the winter, when the weather is more pleasant.
